Dental Implants, The Permanent Solution For Missing Teeth!

When one or more natural teeth are missing, patients can find themselves struggling with reduced oral function, damaged health, and a reduced sense of self-confidence. Traditional dentures or removable partial denture (flippers) may help provide temporary relief, but many find them uncomfortable and not lifelike enough. You deserve a lasting, proven tooth replacement for missing teeth that turns back the clock on your beautiful smile to what it once was, and that’s just what you’ll find at Inwood Village Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry. From a single dental implant to full mouth dental implants, Inwood Village Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry has a solution for you.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are designed to replace missing teeth and to replicate the entire structure of your natural tooth, which allows them to reinvigorate both your oral health and your appearance. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that look like screws and that bond with your natural bone, providing support for the replacement tooth. There are three parts to dental implants: the implant, the abutment, and the crown.

  • Missing Single Tooth: A single dental crown is used to cover an individual implant. These crowns are made from porcelain, a material specifically designed to match natural tooth enamel almost exactly. It even reflects light like real tooth enamel and is incapable of developing decay because of its inorganic properties.
  • Missing Multiple Teeth: Alternatively, implant-retained prosthetics can be designed to restore multiple teeth at once, including dental bridges! If you need to replace two or three teeth at a time, a pair of dental implants can effectively anchor a multi-crown bridge. Keep in mind that this type of bridge does not require removal of tooth structure to place like traditional bridges.
  • Missing All Teeth: If you’re in need of a better-fitting prosthetic, dental implants can be designed to attach to a larger partial or complete denture. Additionally, All-On-Four implants are also available for patients who have suffered significant tooth loss and are in need of comprehensive coverage.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants are designed to replicate the entire structure of your natural tooth, which allows them to reinvigorate both your oral health and your appearance. After a dental implant (or series of implants) integrate(s) with your existing gum and bone tissue, your jaw bone will begin receiving the stimulation it needs to prevent itself from breaking down. This is thanks to osseointegration, which is a process where foreign materials become whole with organic structures (specifically bone) inside the mouth. Not only does this result in a stronger biting force, but it helps you maintain your jaw’s and mouth’s original shape. Typically, the cheeks can begin to hollow out when teeth are lost, and dental implants ensure this does not happen. Implants also improve blood flow to the rest of the mouth, keeping facial skin elastic and reducing the risk of sagging. You will be able to enjoy the positive effects they create for many years to come. These include:

  • Jawbone deterioration is a serious concern for missing teeth. With new dental implants in place, patients can avoid this potential issue and keep their oral health strong and thriving.
  • The stable support of dental implants means that you won’t experience any loosening or “slippage” over time. You can feel fully confident in the results!
  • You can eat the foods you want. There are no dietary or hygiene restrictions with dental implants. They can be treated just like natural teeth.
  • Dental implants are truly built to last. They last a long time when properly cared for, and dental implants have a history of lasting the longest when successfully placed. Not only is their success rate incredibly high (averaging 95 to 99 percent), but they are able to remain healthy for 30 years and even longer! In fact, many patients are able to enjoy them for the rest of their lives.

What are the Stages of Dental Implant Treatment?

Unlike other tooth replacement options, getting dental implants is a multi-step process. Each stage will incur costs of its own, so you can pay for your treatment over the course of several months. Some of the steps include:

  • Preliminary treatments, such as bone grafting, tooth extractions, or periodontal disease therapy.
  • The implant placement surgery.
  • Placement of the abutment, which is the small connector piece that holds the final restoration in place.
  • Design, creation, and placement of the final restoration (a dental crown, bridge, or denture.) Dr. Prida will design a high-quality, customized restoration to fit over the implant(s), fixing your smile in a strong and seamlessly beautiful fashion.

Understanding The Cost Of Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a highly customizable and complex treatment. Not only does that mean you’ll have multiple options to consider for replacing missing teeth, but you’ll also need to consider if preparatory treatments will be needed in order to make implants viable in the long-term. Both have the potential to make your implant treatment more or less expensive than another patient’s.

Inwood Village Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry offers competitive fees for dental implants. You should to check the specifics of your dental insurance policy to see if your dental insurance provider will help cover the cost of dental implants. Feel free to bring your insurance paperwork with you to your consultation and we’ll be happy to help you understand the details of your policy. Financing options can also help you cover the cost of dental implants.
