Oral Conscious Sedation

After determining that sedation is the right option for you, Dr. Prida will prescribe medication (pill form) for you to take at a certain time before your procedure is set to begin. Taking a safe, yet effective pill allows you to feel completely relaxed during your dental procedure. Once the effects take hold, patients enter a deep state of relaxation while remaining conscious enough to respond to our team’s requests, allowing treatment to proceed smoothly and comfortably. Following the appointment, the effects of the sedation will take some time to wear off fully. For this reason, we ask that a trusted friend or family drives you both to and from our Inwood Village practice.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) is a mild sedative that can be administered either alone or in conjunction with oral sedation to create the ideal effect. Patients will be fitted for a nasal mask, and after a few minutes of breathing in the gas, they should begin to feel calmer and more at ease. When used alone, the effects of nitrous oxide wear off in a matter of minutes, allowing patients to return to their daily routines and even drive themselves from our office without an escort.

Today I got my brand new smile and I couldn’t be happier! My old smile used to have different shades of white, it was very embarrassing for me to smile for I was self conscious about it.  Dr Prida gave me today the best gift of all, a beautiful new smile that I absolutely love!
